Who or what got you into Nightwish?

I stole Angels Fall First from my dad, and well here I am....

It feels like I've loved them forever but I've only been really obsessed with them for a few months.

I got into Lacuna Coil first and I wanted to hear some bands that had a similar sound. I heard them first on Scuzz too in 2005, but it was "Wish I had an Angel" in my case.

I wasn't really that big on them before DPP, and before that I only had Once and Over the Hills and far away. I only heard the earlier stuff for the first time a few months ago, and I still haven't listened to Century Child.

You have to listen to Century Child. It was their best album

Yeah a lot of people have said so, my friend bought it yesterday and she's coming round tomorrow with it, I'm looking forward to it! I've heard a few songs from there, like Everdream and Slaying the Dreamer and that's got me thinking it's a good albulm already.

I personally think it's darker than the other albums for how it sounds.

Yes I've heard that it was one Tuomas wrote while being depressed.

It just sounds darker. It's still what you'd call Nightwish, just a darker version.

I've been listening to it for a while now, some of my favourites on there. Good cd, still feel bad for Tuomas being depressed though...

In 2004 one of my friends was listening to "Phantom of the Opera", she looked really into it so I asked her which band it was. She told me it was Nightwish, a metal band with an amazing opera singer. I was intrigued so she made me listen to it and I hated it lol. Several weeks later I was still obssessed with the concept so I bought "Once" and by November, I was hooked!

Nightwish was gifted to me by the Shiny Metal Gods of Metal.
I was leaving my house after my annual Halloween party when my friend noticed a huge cd wallet on the side of the road. Knowing it must belong to one of my neighbors I took it back to the house to see if I could find it's home. But first, of course, I wanted to listen to what was in it.
I picked a disk at random and lo and behold twas Nightwish - Once. It blew my mind. I'm from Texas and the Femmetal just doesn't get much air play here, so it was like nothing I'd heard before. By the time the cd came to Creek Mary's Blood I knew I was forever changed. That magical cd wallet also had Angels Fall First and Oceanborn, because my Metal Gods love me.
I did find the neighbor and returned the wallet. Then ran quick as I could to ebay to find some of my own. Oh yes, my collection is now vast and last year I saw them in San Antonio. Then I willed them this year to come to Austin and they did and I've got meet and greet tickets and am so excited I could squeak.
They has forever won my geeky fandom.

A friend of mine insisted I hear them and played "Nemo" for me and from then on I was hooked.

My sister is totally mad for Nightwish. I blame it all on her..lol

I was a huge fan of The Phantom of the Opera and my brother played me the Nightwish version, ever since then I've been hooked.

I was fan of phantom of the opera too(with Sarah's Brightman voice),so my cousin sudgested me Nightwish version,from Century Child.After 2 days I bought it..

Hm...it's tough to remember...I believe it was through listening to Within Temptation, when I was looking for as much female fronted metal as I could find. Maybe someone recommended them... don't know honestly, it was a long time ago. My first CD was Once.
