Poet & The Pendulum

Post by Guest on Thu Apr 03, 2008 1:30 pm

Ok, this works like so. You see a song thread and, if you have an opinion about it, you tell us.

I love this song, I think it's Tuomas at his best. It was brilliant when they performed it live, the damn roof nearly came off the place at the second chorus Razz

Yeah i like this song quite a bit, even if it is very long. I love the music at the beginning, it's very haunting.

And yeah it was great when they played this live. It really didn't seem that long then. But i have to confess that i do skip this one sometimes Razz And i don't think it'll ever be a single, it's just too damn long.

If this were to be a single then they would have to do the same thing that they did to Green Day's "Jesus Of Suburbia". That got dramatically reduced so they could make a video for it and it just ruined the song.

Yeah i don't think that would be a good idea would it? I don't think it should ever be shortened, that's just messing with perfection then.

Do you really think Tuomas would let them tinker with it? Razz He'd defend it with his life! lol!

Wonderful song. Read an interview where Anette says that it's got about 4 songs put together and Tuomas corrected her, saying it's 5! One of my absolute favourites.

Awesome song! One of their best ones.It has Oceanborn atmosphere...it's dramatic and powerfull. The last part seems a bit boring to me,but the rest is just great.

Love this song but was a bit disappointed with it at the concert because I couldn't see Tuomas at all and could barely see the stage, so when it was in full swing, I missed most of it. Crying or Very sad

It's definitely the best from DPP. One of the best Nightwish songs ever. I especially love the part where Marco sings....it's bad ass!

One of my favourite Nightwish songs. I love how Nettie sings "search for beauty, find your shore" and "you have such oceans within"...the "take me home" is awesome. The song is just made of win, and I still get goosebumps. *plays TPATP again*

Tuomas's favourite Nightwish song. Has anyone heard the original lyrics for the bit where the choir boy is saying 'I'm afraid, so afraid...etc'? They are quite odd and I see why the choir boy wasn't allowed to say them. I've also heard the demo for this, where Marco sings everything including all thje choir boy bits, it does sound weird.

this song is amazing and there's something for everyone!! My favorite parts are the beginning and the verse after Marco's bit.

Getaway, runaway, flyaway
Lead me astray to dreamer's hideaway
I cannot cry 'cause the shoulder cries more
I cannot die I a whore for the cold world
Forgive me I have but two faces
One for the world
One for god save me
I cannot cry 'cause the shoulder cries more
I cannot die I a whore for the cold world
Very Happy

Has anyone else found the 'hidden message'? It's not really a hidden message, but it's pretty cool anyway. Once you know what it is it's really obvious.

Thw whispering at the beginning, at first it sounds inaudiable or like it's a foreign language. But it's actually backwards. It's the bit the choir boy says later with the 'I'm afraid so afraid' bit, just backwards and at the beginning of the song. Which is pretty cool.

I like it up until it gets to the slow parts. After that I only like Marco's part and the chours being repeated.

"Today in the year of our lord,2005 Tuomas was called from the cares of the world. He stopped crying at the end of each beautiful day.The music He wote had to long been without silence. He was found naked and dead. With a smile on his face,a pen and 1000 pages of earased text"
