Lucky Git. Wish i was going again
Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
Woooo....fantastic gig!! Loved every second of it. My friend who saw them in London said that Anette wasn't as good at singing some of the older Nightwish songs, but I think she did them justice personally. I'm not sure how good my photo's came out cos as people said before, those blue/purple/red lights fucked up the shots lol...

Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
That show last night was amazing. The whole band put so much energy into their performance. Annette's versions of the old songs were really great particularly Wish I Had An Angel. Everything was so wonderful. I didn't manage to get any good videos because of the lighting and because I was near the back which is a shame.

OOPS
Was a great night but to honest I thought it got off to a poor start! All the band seemed to be making a lot of mistakes and Annette seemed to be struggling even with her own songs but then after about 50 mins when they did "poet...."everything seemed to fall into place, they got their second wind and....BANG! NIGHTWISH came into life! The remaining set was BRILLIANT
Guess they need a while to warm up but once they got there it was 101% all the way!

Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
I thought they started and continued well personally...I didn't notice anything wrong with Anette's voice. Setlist went like this didn't it:
Bye Bye Beautiful
Dark Chest Of Wonders
Whoever Brings The Night
The Siren
The Poet & The Pendulum
Dead To The World
Amaranth
The Islander
Last Of The Wilds
Sahara
Nemo
Encore:
7 Days To The Wolves
Wishmaster
Wish I Had An Angel
?

Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
That's exactly the setlist they played at the Astoria minus 7 Days to the Wolves at the end, they only did 2 as an encore for us
Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
Same setlist for us at Birmingham except instead of Dead to the world we got Slaying the dreamer.

Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
It was the same setlist in Dublin except it was 'Sacrament of Wilderness' instead of 'Dead to the World'.

Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
I typed Nightwish Manchester Apollo into google and I found this forum
I really enjoyed the gig. I have altered my opinion's of Annete, I never disputed the fact that she is a good singer, but she is much better live than I expected her to be. I am glad that Pain supported because I love Peter Tagreten. I wish I could have seen more though even though I was only a few rows from the front. I hate being short. Did anyone else hear that annoying guy who kept shouting "Nightwish" in a death metal growl?

Yes! I did...and am so glad you come from Sheffield like me too....lmao!! Cool!!
Yeah...he was annoying....and I love Pain as well...they were awesome. So glad they played Same Old Song and Nailed To The Ground...two of my favs. Although, I was more concerned about the stupid gonks next to me who decided to strip off their tops and show their beer bellies to the world while playing their invisible air guitars... lol

Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
There's always someone isn't there? I had two behind me who kept shouting obscence comments to Anette. I just wanted to turn round and tell them to shut up but I didn't want any trouble so I just kept quiet.

Yeah, and just a random note for you all, on Pain's official blog it says that there were 3,400 people at the Manchester gig!

Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
Must have been a big venue then, i like small venues myself
Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
Wow! I'm not sure how many were at Birmingham. If it had been Wolverhampton then it would have been about 3,000 so i'm guessing it might be around that figure.

It didn't actually seem big enough to hold that many, but then again, it is like an old theater so there was an upstairs part where people could sit down and watch the gig if they wanted lol..and didn't see how big that part was.

Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
On the official site it says it can hold up to 2,900, but they always cram as many people as possible in, that's obvious. Who else got fed up of those bootleggers outside the venue trying to flog T-shirts to everyone in the queue. The same guy asked about 6 or 7 times whether I wanted one and when I said no, he swore at me, my friend and the people next in line. I was already wearing a Nightwish shirt so why would I want another one? I gave some money to the charity, you don't mind for things like that. It wasn't like they weren't selling any at all. Oh and there were the usual ticket touts standing outside too.

Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
Yeah we had them at our venue, and i got given the wrong size t shirt!!
Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
We had people selling posters afterwards outside ours then a police officer came over and told one of them to leave, who then shouted at him for being rude.
Re: Nightwish - Manchester Apollo 04/04/08
Yeah...those t-shirt guys were at the Within Temptation gig at Academy last year as well. I recognized one of them from it. It's so annoying how they have to go up and down the queue about twenty times shouting if anyone wants a knocked off t-shirt. If people had wanted one, they'd have asked for one the first or second time. There's always somebody trying to cash in on events like this...LoL...and standing in front of me in the queue for the merch stall inside was a transvestite wearing a dog collar to hide his adam's apple!
