Song Reviews
I will post an Nightwish song and the next person will write a description of what they like/dislike about the song. Then they will say another song for the next person to write a review of.
I'll start: The Poet And The Pendulum

Re: Song Reviews
The poet and the pendulum is a marvelous song which seems to go through the entire range of emotions of Tuomas. I was expecting it to start like "Once" which begans rather suddenly but instead it comes in very quietly with someone whispering which I was not expecting. It builds momentum throughout the start leading to the beginning of the instruments. If you didn't know it was Nightwish before this point then you would instantly realise who it is from the first drum beat. After around 30 seconds we get to hear Anette's first lines. First impressions? Not bad. Then comes a chorus you'd expect from Nightwish, Loud and damn good!!!
We then get to hear Anette singing at normal volume again. Second opinion? Still liking it. Second chorus is as loud and good as the first. It then goes rather quiet after the chorus followed by some good high notes which you come to expect in a Nightwish album. Back to Anette singing normally, at this point you come round to her style of singing
The next part of the song incorporates a usual theme of a boy's voice talking, remeniscent of Wishmaster's "Dead boys poem". Some rather peculiar sound effects are followed by a good instrumental section. I always pick out Emppu's guitar work at this point.
Now we're really going! Marco's vocals appear on their own for the first time with some good guitar backing from Emppu and drum work from Jukka. Anette's vocals take over before both sets of vocals come together for the last line and the third chorus.
Another spoken section of Tuomas apparently dying? I hope not! At this point it goes quiet before another instrumental section comes in, this time it's quieter than before. We then get to hear Anette once more but this time she has some longer notes which show off her voice rather well I think. Any Nightwish fan will be loving this by now (I think)
The end of this section marks the end of song with Anette's last words being "The beginning". Is this to symbolise the beginning of a new era, a new album or something else? You decide.
Overall, it is 13min 54sec of Tuomas at his artistic best in my opinion. All I could think was "If that's the first song on the album then what is the rest going to be like!?" I thought to myself, extremely happy at that point.
Now for the next song. Who wants to review Wishmaster?

Re: Song Reviews
Wishmaster is one of my favourite songs...fast,powerfull,awesome chorus...despite the fact they are just repeating the same thing, this song never gets boring(like for example End of all hope from Century child, which is a bad copy of Wishmaster)
Unfortunotelly, sucks at live performances,no matter who sings it,Tarja or Annete. You really need to have some backing vocals when you perform this.

I'm gonna let someone else do that one, partly because i've done one already and partly because i'm not very fond of that song!

Elvenpath is a very great song. I love the intro those words spoken there makes this song very magical...Tarja's vocals are perfect and I like the instrumental side as well. It's fast, catchy and awesome song... It's best song on Angels Fall First.
