Jukka Nevalainen Appreciation Thread

As we now have appreciation threads for Anette, Tuomas, Emppu and Marco it's only fair that Jukka gets one as well.

Jukka's a good drummer, but you don't really hear much about him. I hear he loves the public, and Tuomas blames him for the setting up of Nightmail.

Jukka was the band member i spoke most to at the meet and greet last Tuesday. He was a really nice guy and we had a good conversation about several things. He made a point of coming up and shaking my hand before the band went off to prepare for the show.

If you read the "Once upon a Nightwish" book he seems to be the band member most interested in the business side of things as well and tries to make sure they don't get ripped off, so even beyond the music he's pretty important to them.

I love Jukka. It annoyes me that he doesn't get that much attention, I guess that's usual for drummers though.

He also handles the finances and the shop which is always useful with Tuomas' dislike of all things money.

Where's all the Jukka love? He's amazing! Jukka is actually a really good drummer, something very scarce in most bands in this genre sadly. He handles the shop, so he has brains. And he's also enviromentally aware - you don't get that in all that in one usually. Skill, brains, and the ability to care.

So this is old news now but I've only just found it out.

Nightwish drummer recieves the Young Enterepreneur prize

Nightwish's drummer Jukka Nevalainen is also the CO of the band's business branch Scene Nation Ltd, founded 2003 in Kitee.

According to The Finnish Enterpreneurs' Association the company is an excellent specimen of rock bands' possibilities to produce tours and fan merchandise in addition to music publications. The company's annual turnover exeeds 3 Mio Euro.

Furthermore, Nevalainen runs the Finnish branch of a German rock-items mailorder enterprise.

In his greeting from the current tour in North America Nevalainen says he appreciates the fact that this kind of unusual enterprise recieved the annual recognition prize. Turning bands' business into enterprises has only become more common in Finland during the past few years. Other 3 prize winners were...

The Finnish Enterpreneurs Association & Foundation arrange this annual competition. Each winner will receive the prize of 12 000 euros. According to the rules the competitors must be no more than 35 yrs old.

Thats so cool he got a prize for being an Enterepreneur. I know he used to handle everything in the Nightwish shop on his own but then when it got bigger he had to get help. He is a really valuable member of Nightwish. He needs more love.
